Our story
Your trusted, local family business.
Started on July 1st 2000 and originally known as Philcam, we have been sparking creativity for over 20 years.
In 2016, alongside a change in venue, we took the opportunity to change our name to something a little more explanatory and easier to find – Launceston Art Centre.
A true family business, we (Simon and Megan) are supported by Simon’s son Stefan, and our amazing work colleagues Deidre, Bek and Lucy the shop dog.
With a reputation for stocking a wide range of quality art supplies (in fact, the biggest range in Northern Tasmania), we are proud to be a major supplier for both amateur and professional artists in the area, as well as students and amateur model-makers.
We love our local community and are proud to have gained a reputation as being friendly, helpful and incredibly knowledgeable. With all of us being artists ourselves, we are familiar with the products we sell, and love giving honest, reliable advice to our customers on what has worked for us (and what hasn’t!).
We want our customers to ‘spark their creativity’ and we love being a small part in helping them do so.
